There is NOTHING “white looking” about this dolls image.
8 sm // Jul 17, 2008 at 2:29 pm
I think this is really nice. As far as the doll, try getting dolls with real images of AKAs themselves. No better way to represent your sorroity. Job well done . I think the person was looking more of how the doll has long hair and fair skin which can cause someone to think “white”. nevertheless, all AKAs have different skin complexions, some light , medium, fair skin and very dark. Create doll of each complexion. Better still again I say create doll using the real image such as sharon pratt, or shawn yancy or whom ever as long as it continue to represent the true AKA Sor. Great job to the organization. No one can say anything negative about this. This is awsome.

this is wonderful. to bring something like this to the dc area is great and truly define stregnth. i think this is a good organization. i worked with a aka and its sad to say that this person has ways that do not represent the organization well. sad to say, i would have thought the true history about sisterhood would have help this person be grounded as a young lady. i just want please be careful how you reprensent to organization because people do watch. when a sister display negative behavior on a regular basis simply show that she is not for this organization, she just like wearing the letters.

Soror’s, “haters everywhere we go.” I had a blast representing Rho Zeta Omega from Marietta, Georgia in DC. No matter what the doll looked like, haters would have had a problem with it. That doll is beautiful and the haters know it so let them grasp at straws. They will come up short every time! Skee Wee!

The Barbie doll is supposed to look like a Barbie doll. (Have you seen the Kimora doll - looks like Kimora, but looks like a BARBIE DOLL!) The Mattel company is not going to design a doll that is out of the flow with the other dolls they have, Barbie has a certain “look,” whether its a white Barbie or a Black Barbie. People just take things too literally. Congartulations to all my sorors of THE ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY, INCORPORATED! Once again, we are blazing trails where no other organization has gone before!
27 Soror Sandra Nimmons // Jul 26, 2008 at 3:51 pm
I attended the Centennial Boule from Xi Alpha Omega Chapter-Houston, TX. It was absolutely beautiful to see a “sea of Pink and Green”….. approx 25,000 Sorors from all over the world representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The doll is beautiful and so are all of the women of AKA!!
28 Soror Sharon Poitier // Jul 30, 2008 at 9:05 am
I traveled from The Bahamas to attend the Centennial Boule and the entire experience was simply awesome!
D.C. was truly painted pink and green and I must say that Sorors represented Alpha Kappa Alpha well.
Congratulations to Boule organizers and congratulations to Sorors everywhere. Let us continue to build on the fine legacy that was started 100 years ago.
Thanks Fox for the wonderful coverage. As a result of your effort, those of us who could not attend can still feel the spirit.

Maybe somebody should promote a website dedicated to white American music/culture/entertainment. It is sites like this that support segregation.
33 Vera // Aug 12, 2008 at 2:02 pm
This is for the person called “sm” on this website and for the people who thought the Mattel AKA Doll was not dark.
A couple of sorors got the doll and it turns out that the actual doll itself is indeed DARK_SKINNED.
It is just that the people who have been blasting AKA websites based their light-skinned beliefs on a lightly-colored picture of the AKA doll. They did not base it on the actual doll itself. So as far as the people who were wondering, I hope this proof in the pudding helps or might I saw “dark proof in the pudding” helps.
Thank you though for all of your comments./

I think that this is a wonderful “nod” to the greatness of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated! I am a Fall 2003 initiate of the Nu Rho chapter. I have also been a member of Chi Sigma Iota chapter. Keep up the great work, Sorors! Thanks Fox News, I enjoy reading all about the happenings of my Sorority!
35 T // Aug 25, 2008 at 12:55 pm
To anonymous from aug.11th,
You don’t need to create predominately white sites, groups etc. because they already exist. This is not supporting segregation, it is because of segregation that we created our own schools. organizations etc. and we allow other races to join. There is nothing wrong with celebrating something that made a way out of no way for us.
Also, congratulations on the Doll, I know many feel that if they were to combine all complexions the doll would come out with the complexion she has. I personally feel she would be a bit more brown, in regards to another comment yes mattel will keep a certain mold for barbie but i think people are referring to her complexion, most if not all black barbies are brown i assume as not to confuse her with a barbie of another race. Nonetheless its a first and historical to even have such a barbie created. Congrats!
