“It’s got to be something that comes from the heart,” the Grammy-winning artist told about 150 attendee at a mentor session organized by the Recording Academy of Atlanta on Saturday. “You got to say to yourself, ‘If I won’t do it, who will?”‘
He along with Jason Geter, co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records, T.I.’s label, also took several questions from young girls from the program, “It’s Cool To Be Smart,” which empowers females to become future business women.
T.I. is currently serving 1,000 hours of community service, stemming from a 2007 arrest in which he was allegedly trying to purchase automatic weapons. He was also sentenced to one year in prison on federal weapons charges.
