With Thanksgiving just passing us, and my stomach still full from the tasty meal I prepared! (Yes I’m a great cook!) It reminded me of another event I attended a few weeks prior that also had me stuffed to the rim!
Shout out to the beautiful women of The Washington DC Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. They recently held their 5th annual Cookin’ with the Deltas at the Washington Times Arbor Ballroom in NE, DC. This annual fundraising event is in association with the Washington DC Alumnae Foundation of Delta Sigma Sorority, Incorporated and has been well received since they started it.
“Distinguished Men Cookin’ with the Deltas is just that. Imagine two rooms filled with men who did the cooking? Hmmm….yes a feast for your eyes and mouth all in one. Yes…Men can cook too! I was honored to be an invited judge. I tried my best to sample the more than 50 chefs present. My eyes weren’t bigger than my stomach this time…I wanted to eat everything but realistically…there was just no way possible!
The Delta’s did there thing to make each guest comfortable. As you entered the the building you were graciously greeted, and when the doors opened…the feasting and fellowship began. I found myself getting up and down in shifts to do the sampling and judging. (This also made some extra room as I walked around…so I thought!)
By the end of the evening there was no doubt that everyone came and had a wonderful time. After you filled your plate, sat down to enjoy the feast with family and friends and enjoy the sounds of live music…You got a minute for a short breather and then you could hit the dance floor to work off what you just consumed.
I was stuffed and found myself sitting and relaxing with three of my line sisters that came down from Baltimore. Thanks Sands for coming through. Sisterhood and supporting each other is just something Delta’s do best. A special plug to my line, ”The Sedacious 17″ Alpha Gamma 1986 Fall, Morgan State University, and Hey Big Sister Lynnie who was there too…you know I couldn’t leave you out Soror!
(Micheline Bowman, Michele Gardner, Nathalyn Whittington, Wanda Smith)
I honestly can say that of all the dishes there…The men definitely did their thing cooking and by the way…they had junior chefs that whipped up some of their own creations too.
Hats off to all the Chefs and my Sorors of The DC Alumnae Chapter!
Here are some of the pictures I took in between my eating!

1. I had a good time. and felt very welcomed and comfotable. 2. Some of the tasters did not know that there were cooks in the second room. 3. Several cooks in the second room did not know what the prizes were. 4. I think that the prizes should be broken down according to type of dish, meat, veggie, starch ect. just a sugestion. 5. Few of us knew what the red tickets were fore. 6. i felt like I was away from the action in that second room. 7. We in the second room did not know what was going on in the main room. These are my comments and sujestions. over all I had a great time and was very well taken care of. I look foward with excitment for the nex time. Please invite me back it was a real blast.
