You couldn’t have asked for a better day for a ride. The weather was absolutely wonderful. The sky was clear, the sun was shining, and it was warm for October.
Bikers from all over the area and quite a few from out of state made their way to RFK Stadium in D.C. It was like a sea of bikes as far as you could see lined up row by row. The message was clear, “Know your status!” This ride is very important to D.C. as statistics show the city ranks highest with the number of HIV/AIDS cases reported. A city so small, yet far too many are battling a disease that is 100% preventable.
Big Tigger walked the parking lot thanking riders and shaking hands just before he got on the mic to kick things off. He encouraged every participant in the ride to get tested at the mobile unit that would be on site at Rosecroft Raceway where the ride finished. He introduced the Grand Marshal, National Champion Professional Drag Racer, Rickey Gadson, thanked the many sponsors..one being (Myvoicedc.com) Yeah to this site! He did an interview with WTTG, Fox 5 News and shortly after it was KICKSTANDS UP!
A Police escort took the bikers from D.C. to Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland. As they filled the lots with beautiful bikes in all sorts of shapes and colors, I was truly amazed. You had to be there to get the full affect around these two wheelers. I walked the lot taking as many pictures as I could. I wish I could have taken a picture of every person and bike. This was definitely a sight to see.
When I spoke to Tigger shortly after he arrived at Rosecroft, I thanked him and he said, “No Thank you…none of this would be possible if it weren’t for people like you!” It was clear that he had a lot of supporters and will continue to have them for years to come. I’m already looking forward to next year. While I’m not a bike owner…I’m good at being a back seat rider.

I am a biker and proud to say that I was a participant in the 2009 Ride for Life. The ride was wondering and seeing so many bikers come together for such a good cause was a beautiful site to see. It felt good to be a part of something so wonderful. I look forward to being a participant next year.

Thank you Tigger for such an outstanding event. I rode up from Richmond, VA in 55 degree weather, and it was well worth it. It was a joy to see so many people come out for such a good cause. I have only been riding for 3 months and this was an excellent event to break in the bike with. Again, thank you Tigger, D.C., Maryland, the sponsors, and all the clubs and riders who made it a fun event. See ya next year!

Micheline, first let me say it was a real pleasure meeting you on Sunday and thanks for the love you showed. Being a new member of the MC community its refreshing to see journalists support us and show us in a positive way. So many times only the negative is reported while all the good works go unnoticed. This year my particpation in Tigger’s 2nd Annual HIV/AIDS Ride for Life was a dream come true for me!!! I attended last years event as a spectator and vowed that this year I would bea rider and I did it. So as we rode down 295 tour destination I actually cried tears of joy for having accomplished this goal. However let me not forget to thank Tigger, who has without a doubt brought our community into the forefront and each year has increased MC awareness with his safety campaigns. Much love and respect to you both…
