Hello myvoicedc readers. Every now and then I feel the need to share with you music that I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying in hopes that you’ll check out this artist. Recently, I listened to NIYOKI (pronounced: NIE-OH-KEE). I enjoyed this C.D. so much and hope that you’ll pick it up and enjoy it too.
Her music has the ability to not only soothe the savage beast, but also to restore, refresh and rejuvenate. Who among us would not readily admit that we need to break from our overcrowded days, with more tasks and obligations than even the most organized individual is able to complete?
Sometimes we all- both individually and collectively- simply need to exhale and let go for just a little while…to close our eyes, lean back, and just, well, rest.
REST is a solid, 13 track collection of songs, each of which has a different sound and feel. NIYOKI’S new project crosses all musical genres to incorporate R&B, Jazz, rock and hip hop. The beautiful and soothing “I Will Rest”, the high energy and driven single, “Joy” the praise-filled “Where Would I Be?” and the earnestly prayerful “All That I have” are just a few of the highlights featured on REST.
