AKA’s Get Their Own Barbie

July 9th, 2008 · 5 Comments

AKA Barbie
When approximately 35,000 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority hit DC this weekend to celebrate their biennial convention some of them may be talking about their newest sister, AKA Centennial Barbie. The doll was created for the nations oldest black sorority which was founded here at Howard University in 1908 and is dressed in… you guessed it, pink and green.

The limited edition Mattel doll will sell for $50 dollars and be available in the Barbie Collector catalog, the Barbiecollector.com website and at various retailers.

The site is mentioned in the story it just may not be available there yet. If you are in DC they are selling it at the convention. You can see people lining up to by them in some of the raw video from the convention on our AKA Centennial Page.
