People say that if you want to learn something, pick up a book.  But in this case, I say pick up a magazine. I had the opportunity to speak with Paris Fenwick, Vice President of OUR TEENS MAGAZINE and she’s passionate about the articles printed in this magazine.

Paris along with the magazine’s President, John A. May, are Entrepreneurs on the move in the D.C. metro area.  They have filled their 32 page glossy magazine with information that we all can learn from.

Micheline -What is the name of your company?

Paris- The name of our company is OUR TEENS MAGAZINE and we have been in business for 4 years.

Micheline- What do you want our readers to know about your magazine?

Paris- OUR TEENS MAGAZINE is one of the hottest, local positive teen magazines in the Washington area that is written by teens from a teen’s point of view.  We feature youth from MD, DC, and VA that are doing positive and productive things with their lives.  Our positive focus is on a variety of things from being on the honor roll, to writing poetry, singing, dancing, rapping, winning competitions and so much more.

Micheline- Do you offer any real life lessons for your readers?

Paris- Yes we do.  Some of our articles teach our readers about college preparation, resume writing, interviewing skills, and money management.  You can learn important lessons on how to buy a car, or purchase a home…even understanding credit scores. We found out that many youth go away to college and get credit cards, max them out and totally mess up their credit score. Many have no idea what a credit score is and how that affects your buying power. These articles are beneficial for our younger readers, as well as adults.  In addition, we print negative stories with a positive twist giving examples of things they shouldn’t do.

Micheline- How many people is your magazine reaching and where are you currently located?

Paris- We have over 300,000 subscribers and bulk buyers.  Our subscription numbers are steadily growing each day. Right now we have two locations.  The main office is located in SE, Washington, D.C. and we have one office in Temple Hills, Maryland.  We are currently discussing the possibility of expanding our offices to a Virginia location.

Micheline-What makes your company/business stand out from others that are similar?

Paris- I’d have to say OUR TEENS MAGAZINE stands out from others, simply because there aren’t any magazines that feature the areas local youth on the front cover.  We let our teens express themselves with out shutting them down or changing their words.
Only youths from MD/DC/VA can make the front cover.

Micheline- Are you currently looking for any teen writers?

Paris- We are always accepting new teens writers and sales reps, subscribers, advertisers, sponsors, donators, and fundraiser participants.  OUR TEENS MAGAZINE has plans to expand nationally to further our growth.

So there you have it…another wonderful success story from the pages of OUR TEENS MAGAZINES. If you are a teen, or know any looking for something positive and informative to read…turn them on to this magazine.  Paris told me that this entire experience being an entrepreneur is best summed up by two words, “Thank You!”  Words she often hears from the youth who read the magazine. They are so happy to finally have their voice heard and read on each page. On behalf of myvoicedc.com we thank you OUR TEENS MAGAZINE for having a positive magazine our youth can relate to.

I think that is fabulous! the saying is true, the children are our future. It is important to enforce positive information, to care, lessons, teachings, mentors, role models etc. into their lives. Personally I can remember as a teenager, I solely just looked at the illustrations and skipped the reading.

    Keep it up!

My husband and I would like to volunteer to help feed the homeless. Could you send me the application so you will have us on file. My friend Robbie Ackinlolu sent me your email. I know your location is Mcpherson Square Park but i have no idea where that is. Could you give me the address? I look forward to meeting you.
    Thank you,
