Mark: Great spot! Wish I was more of a basketball aficionado, but I hope you’ll keep me in mind to share the spotlight with you on myspacetv.com when football season takes off.

I’m enjoying these tight NBA games, esp. Celtics-Hawks.

On a more bizarre note, I was kind of shocked to hear about Marvin Harrison’s little scrape with what sounds like a drunk “crab” (re: crabs in the bucket mentality) in Philly. While the Colts, as the Patriots’ greatest nemesis, are not my faves, I LOVE Harrison (plus, he’s super cute, like “Sweetness was — I am, after all, a GIRL).

Obama drama: What a drag. The whole Wright issue directly relates to what I say in my book about the black-white race dynamic being a major perceptual liability for Dems. Sounds like, in his efforts to be deemed “black enough,” Obama may have been loyal to a fault. My black BF says “don’t mess with the black church,” and I appreciate the significance of that environment given the hostile enviroment white America has created for generations. But I still think that, because Obama was planning to run as a “post-racial” candidate, he should have considered joining a more culturally diverse congregation A LOT SOONER. The goodwill of his fellow (white) football fans — one of his big plusses — has, I fear, been irrevocably compromised by his own perception miscues.

Feel free to share your insights with me…

    Best, Anne

    Ciao for now, Anne

re: obama, im really irked by the mis-characterizations and rank ignorance of many re: the black church…and a need to dictate what’s acceptable discourse in it. once again, black institutions are being defined, by non-black people.

that is why im not happy with obama’s reaction to it…not that i expected anything less (i don’t harbor a ’spook who sat by the door’ expectation that he is simply ‘playing the game’ to be president). i really think his default is to reconcile…unfortunately that seemingly means not force america to really deal with the benefits some receive, to the detriment of others.

that said, im voting for him, not with an expectation that the guy will necessarily ‘look out’, but because DESPITE the groundswell that would occur suggesting racism is dead with his election, young black kids would have a helluva role model.

but most importantly, i think it important to display black franchise discipline, that with continued participation and discipline, can be leveraged in the future.
