BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC-TV MyFoxAL.com)  –  Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford announced a new plan on Monday night that will help provide a fifty-thousand dollar life insurance policy for parents of children enrolled in Birmingham City Schools, free of charge.

The mayor announced that the city would take part in this program provided by Mass Mutual Investments.

The program will be limited to one parent per household, who must be between the ages of nineteen and forty-two. The adult must earn between ten and forty thousand dollars a year to qualify. Langford says that parents must pass a free health screening and sign up on an assigned day to qualify.

Langford is expected to announce this week when this program will be available for parents to sign up.
