Michel’s M List… 4/01/2008

March 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment

TASTE: THE ULTIMATE CHOCOLATE CAKE. Oh you’ll find this deep dark rich velvety moist melted-kisses decadent delight at Wegman’s Food Market. Why did they have tiny pieces to sample on the day I was shopping for groceries LOL. I told myself I shouldn’t have tasted it and then I added a whole cake to my shopping cart. Good thing there’s a mini version. Ahhhh you gotta try it!

VISIT: So you can’t get close enough to the President to tell him what’s on your mind huh? Well, you might wanna check out MADAME TOUSSAUDS WAX MUSEUM in the old Woodies building at 10th & F in DC. The place famous for making famous people into wax life-size figurines has a George W and a Will Smith and even a J-Lo (before she had her twins). It’s interactive and a full-sensory experience. Some of them look so real you’ll do a double take.

SHOP: Get to stepping on over to 1512 U Street N.W in DC to visit MOOJOO KEN. This trendy boutique is housed in an old row house and is lined with rows of unique shoes, boots and handbags. The name Moojoo Ken means ‘unconditional’ in Japanese. The collection captures the sole/soul of the city with shoes named after historic neighborhoods and locales. Trust me ain’t nobody gonna be walking the way you’ll walk in a pair of M Streets or Cleveland Parks. Or how about those yellow Logan Circles. You’ll be unconditionally surprised and satisfied.

SOOTHE: Shout-out to Marla Malcom Beck for opening BLUE MERCURY back in 1999! You’ll love this apothecary spa for all the girly stuff you can imagine. There’s two locations, one at Dupont Circle and one in Georgetown. Ms. Marla the self-proclaimed product junkie has stocked the spa with such a variety of makeup, skin & body stuff, fragrances, candles you’ll spend hours trying to decide what to buy. I’ll take one of everything please thank you.

FUN: Gather up the family and go check out the 22nd edition of the DC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL. You’ll get to see some Indy flicks, view a few pet projects and support the local cultural arts scene while watching some good movies. The flick-fest encompasses a global range of cultures, music and politics representing cinema from over 30 countries. Tickets are around $9 bucks each and there are several free programs for kids and seniors. I’m letting you know about it early enough to put on your calendar and plan a family weekend. Filmfest DC goes from April 24th thru May 4th so get to planning.
