Wanda’s Makeover/Takeover - Decorating Faux Pas’

March 16th, 2008 · No Comments

I must say, 2007 was an eventful year for me. I was blessed throughout the year with many opportunities to bring color and design into the homes of my clients.  HGTV magazine is scheduled to release a feature story on my company (Panache Interiors) in 2008. Did you know HGTV has a magazine?

Over the next four months, I will share decorating miscues most homeowners make when decorating their homes.  May all of you have a prosperous and blessed 2008 and I look forward to sharing my decorating tips and answering questions in the coming year.

1. Art Hung to High

Before you consider hanging art, make sure that the size of the art is appropriate for the size of the wall space.

If the pictures are too small consider using a grouping of small art pieces (as seen in the photo to the left).

The scale of the art should relate well to the scale of the furniture or wall with which it will be placed.

Consider hanging art pieces at eye level. Art pieces should not be hung so high above the furniture that the relationships between the pieces are lost.

Keep in mind the height of hanging art should relate to other pieces in the room as well as the composition of all the other walls in the room.
