Ex-Military Soldier/Model turns Cancer illness into an inspiration of hope and life - Spinning For Life

March 16th, 2008 · No Comments

In our efforts to educate and inspire our community, it’s important to give attention to a particular and unknown type of cancer.

Cancer is spoken of so many times….but how often is the cancer NON-HODGKINS heard of? The Definition of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is a large group of cancers of the immune system. NHL’s can occur at any age and are often marked by enlarged lymph nodes, fever, and weight loss. According to the National Cancer Institute, there are an estimated 63,190 new cases of NHL in the United States in 2007.

A local military veteran was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and turned her illness into a triumph! She wanted to help inspire those who affected by this life altering ailment, and decided to launch a website to tell her story.

As a three time cancer survivor Touraine Lynch (Age – 33) launched the “Spinning for Life” website in November 2007. Her primary goal is to introduce the concept of cycling- whether on a bicycle or on a stationary bike– as the key to a sound mind and body. The website also provides knowledge on how to stay fit- both physically and spiritually.

Touranine Lynch hopes that her unbelievable story will serve as living proof how spinning helped change the way she lives and her physique. Cycling has helped to mold this cancer survivor and ex-military veteran into what she is today.

From six cycles of chemotherapy and treatments at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC to becoming the CEO and Founder of a fabulous website, she has turned her illness into something positive, fundamental and motivating.

Best wishes to her and her efforts!
